In the spring of 2019, the Sampson County Master Gardeners developed a planting plan for the first Downtown Clinton alleyway project. The plan considered the size of the alley as well as the colors exhibited in mural boards which were commissioned and installed in the alley. The Master Gardeners proposed a combination of bedding plants and colorful pots with cascading greenery. The pot colors matched downtown Clinton’s brand palette. After installing the plants, the Master Gardeners developed a weekend watering schedule as well as a watering schedule for the City of Clinton’s Public Works staff to follow during the work week. The Master Gardeners were exceptional project partners and the Clinton Main Street program looks forward to working with them to develop additional landscaping projects within Downtown Clinton. The Clinton Main Street Program is pleased to recognize the Sampson County Extension Master Gardeners as a North Carolina Main Street Champion.
