The Spruce Pine Town Council not only provides financial stability, but is also eager to support various downtown goals and projects, which has made it possible to turn plans into reality. From expanding sidewalks and restoring the town’s historic footbridge, to renovating neglected buildings, the Town Council members are invested in improving downtown. Their confidence in the Spruce Pine Main Street program has allowed it to grow from a part-time position into a full- time, town-funded department, which has been a turning point in Spruce Pine’s success in downtown revitalization. With limited staff and the constant challenges that face small rural towns, the Town Council members continue to push forward with hope and smiles.
