Sky’s the Limit All-Inclusive Park is located at 119 North Main Street in downtown Reidsville. It began with a citizen who contacted the city’s marketing director and offered to give the city an Aircoupe airplane. Soon after that, the Reidsville Kiwanis Club approached the city about donating a $50,000 handicap-accessible swing for a city park, and concerted efforts began to raise the funding to build the first all-inclusive park in Rockingham County.

All-inclusive parks and playgrounds help build inclusive downtown districts and communities. As children play, they develop social skills, enhance their communication skills, and benefit from gross motor skill activity and exercise. Inclusive playgrounds also offer caretakers with the opportunity to socialize with other adults while their children play and provides disabled adults an opportunity to play with their children.

The park’s aviation theme was based on the donated plane, and the name of the park, “Sky’s the Limit”, was designed to show that there is no limit or barriers when it comes to play. Located behind City Hall on what was a vacant lot, the park is adjacent to a residential neighborhood and located near the Rockingham County Library.

The total cost of the project was $885,000. The City of Reidsville invested $585,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act funds plus the labor for the project, and they contracted with Carolina Parks and Play to design the park. The bathrooms were prefabricated by Smith Carolina Corporation. The Aircoupe plane was refabricated by ToyMakerz, a local custom vehicle fabrication shop, and in addition to the Reidsville Kiwanis Club’s donation, the Reidsville Rotary Club contributed $100,000 and the Reidsville Area Foundation contributed $150,000 to bring this project to fruition.

Sky’s the Limit All-Inclusive Park is used seven days a week by a variety of residents and visitors who enjoy all of the amenities offered in downtown Reidsville.
