2024 NC Main Street Champion
Aimee Krans was the heart and soul of Downtown Mebane, embodying the essence of a true Main Street Champion. Together with her husband Steve, Aimee made Downtown Mebane both her home and her life’s work. Her unwavering love for the community was evident in everything she did.
Working tirelessly behind the scenes, Aimee helped manage two of Downtown Mebane’s most beloved restaurants - Junction on 70 and Martinho’s. During the pandemic, she spearheaded the idea of offering “family meals” for takeout, a creative and compassionate solution that not only kept the restaurants going but also brought comfort and convenience to families during an uncertain time.
Aimee was a quiet champion—someone who acted selflessly without seeking recognition. Her legacy lives on through her three daughters, who have all worked in various roles supporting Downtown Mebane, carrying forward her dedication to the community and its businesses.
Aimee’s passing in March 2024 was a profound loss for the Mebane community. The sunflower wreaths placed by downtown businesses served as a poignant tribute to a woman who radiated light and warmth in everything she touched.
Grateful for the lasting impact she made, Mebane honors Aimee Krans as its 2024 Main Street Champion.
