BURLINGTON DOWNTOWN CORPORATION RECEIVES GRANT
FROM COMMUNITY INNOVATION FUND FOR DOWNTOWN MURAL PROJECT
BURLINGTON, NC – The Burlington Downtown Corporation (BDC) is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Community Innovation Fund. These funds will support the BDC’s Downtown Mural Project, scheduled to launch Friday, February 15, 2019, with the distribution of a Call to Artists for Request for Proposals (RFP). Murals are often some of the most visually appealing, tourist‐drawing elements of a vibrant downtown. While community murals are not a silver bullet solution for enhancing the success of local businesses, they do have a significant impact on stabilizing and sustaining the process of community transformation.
Jessica Pasion, Executive Director of the BDC said, “A mural in downtown Burlington is a visible indicator that this community has all the ingredients to create revitalization. We are excited to showcase the creativity of local artists while creating unique spaces that bring community members together.” Community murals are a great way to celebrate the civic pride of Burlington and capture the vibrant energy and creativity of our diverse community.
