2022 NC Main Street Champion
In his six years of service, David Royster IV (the fourth) was a model member of the Uptown Shelby Association board of directors. Several years after graduating from college, David returned to Shelby to help manage the historic properties his family owns in and around Uptown Shelby. In two thousand sixteen, he joined the Uptown Shelby Association Board of Directors serving as both Secretary and President during his tenure. He also volunteered regularly for events and projects, always willing to lend a hand at a moment's notice. David helped bring several new pieces of public art to the district and always stayed to the bitter end of events to help break down and clean up. In two thousand twenty-two, he was instrumental in saving Santa's House, a beloved community mainstay. Even after his board term ended, David remained an engaged advocate for the district. The Uptown Shelby Association board and staff are grateful for his service and dedication to Uptown and are proud to name David Royster IV (the fourth) the two thousand twenty-two Main Street Champion.
