2018 Best Retail Promotion

The F.A.B. Crawl, which stands for Food. Arts. Brews., was developed in the spring of 2018 to showcase downtown Morganton businesses. Initially discussed as a brewery crawl, it was decided that including restaurants and art-based businesses would support and expand the downtown economic development strategy that all of downtown is an arts incubator.
Established as a quarterly event, the intent is to incentivize residents and visitors to explore downtown businesses. Approximately 500 people participated in the first event held in May of 2018. Participants over the age of twenty-one were tasked with visiting as many businesses as they could in a six-hour period. They picked up punch cards and had each business they visited punch them. They left the cards with the last merchant visited and were entered in a drawing for prizes donated by the participating businesses.
The $400 event encouraged an afternoon of dining, drinking, shopping, and exploring downtown Morganton businesses.
