The Hertford Rotary Club provides never-ending support for activities in Hertford. Most recently, the Rotary Club partnered with Historic Hertford, Inc. (HHI), to put on the first ever "Dine, Drink & Dance" event on the Hertford waterfront. The event would not have been possible without the Rotary Club’s support. The organization has also been very active in the annual car show sponsored by HHI, and "Toast the Perquimans," another HHI event. Hertford Rotary actively supports the community by making scholarships available to college students, providing books to all the county schools through a Rotary District Grant, and sponsoring a leadership program in the high school. It also sponsors essay contests for local students, as well as a speech competition, actively mentoring participants. The Rotary Club participates in VITA, a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, through which its members prepare income tax returns for almost 200 low-income and senior clients. The Hertford Rotary Club is always eager to give a helping hand to HHI and has been a faithful servant to the community, which is why it is a North Carolina Main Street Champion..
