2022 NC Main Street Champion
Laurie Bryson’s dedication to Sylva’s downtown has set the standard for community involvement. In two thousand seventeen, she and her husband relocated to Sylva to open a brewery. Laurie immediately became involved with local initiatives, including the Main Street program’s Promotions Committee. As a result of her bringing great ideas and energy to the committee, the Main Street Sylva Association Board added her to its leadership team. Laurie’s creativity helped bridge the gap during the COVID nineteen pandemic, and she was instrumental in helping rebuild the program once things reopened. Laurie was also a key player in the task force that created Sylva’s Social District plan. She currently serves as the board’s Vice President, incoming President, and as an Ambassador for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center. Downtown Sylva also benefited from Laurie’s purchase and renovation of their downtown brewery building, as a key Main Street goal is to have more renovated owner-occupied buildings. Because of her passion for and commitment to downtown, Sylva is proud to name Laurie Bryson as its two thousand twenty-two Main Street Champion.
