2024 NC Main Street Champion
Nasir (NAH-SEER) Dukes is the ideal partner for any Main Street director. As an international developer, Nasir recognized the untapped potential in Rocky Mount. Rather than diving straight into development, he took the time to fully immerse himself in the community. Though not a native, Nasir engaged in meaningful conversations with residents, government officials, elected leaders, and the downtown development team to understand the specific needs of both the city and Downtown Rocky Mount.
With a clear understanding that the community sought diverse housing options, Nasir began work on two apartment projects simultaneously to provide upscale urban living for professionals. Once these projects were complete, he immediately launched a multi-million-dollar, mixed-use commercial and residential development, which is currently underway. In addition to these projects, Nasir is developing a restaurant and rooftop lounge, further enriching the downtown experience.
Nasir and his team have exemplified professionalism, always staying engaged and responsive. They are often among the first to volunteer, and their follow-through is remarkable. When Nasir commits to a project, he and his team act swiftly and decisively to bring it to life.
