2024 NC Main Street Champion
Scott Black has been a dedicated champion for Uptown Shelby for over 20 years in the Public Works department. Known for his kindness, good-hearted nature, and willingness to help others, Scott consistently brings a cheerful attitude despite having a small crew and a large workload.
He plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the annual Christmas parade in Uptown Shelby, assisting with street closures, traffic flow, barricades, and routes. Scott also contributes to the success of other events and parades in Uptown Shelby. His commitment and leadership make him an invaluable asset to the city and a highly respected figure in the Public Works department.
It’s important to recognize the vital role of public works employees, who are often among the first responders during disasters. Scott and his team worked tirelessly following Hurricane Helene, ensuring the safety of the City of Shelby by clearing roadways, assessing damage, and removing debris.
